Bay-breasted warblers are
most common in the second half of May at Magee Marsh. During the
third
week of May you'll start to see a fair number of them, and they tend to
peak in the fourth week. The males are easily
identifiable with their extensive red plumages. When
photographing this species, properly exposing the dark face is easiest
with strong flash, though care must be taken to not over-expose the
white belly. The images below show some of the plumage
variability.
