Yellow-throated Vireo

The yellow-throated vireo is a bird occasionally sighted at Magee Marsh around the second week of May.  The bird can be identified by its yellow spectacles and yellow throat and breast.  The yellow-throated warbler, by contrast, has strong black markings on its face and lacks any spectacles.  Likewise, the common yellowthroat has a completely black face, which easily sets it apart from the yellow-throated vireo.  The only other bird at Magee with yellow spectacles is the white-eyed vireo, which differs from the yellow-throated vireo by having a white throat and striking, white eyes.
